Key 1 – People

Tell the listener who the video is aimed at.  For example – This video is for anyone who is not winning business on their website and who wants to do so

Key 2 – Problem

Tell the listener about the problem you are going to solve

Key 3 – Solution

Tell the listener about the solution that you have to the problem that you have identified?

The future of marketing

Marketing TrainingWhat is the future for marketing?  Where is it going to change?

Whilst I do not profess to be able to predict the future, there are a couple of things that I am fairly sure will happen in the world of marketing.

The main reason for me knowing about these changes is that they are already happening.

Here they are:

Mobile

There is going to be an increase in the importance of the use of marketing to mobile phones.  Let’s face it, we pick up most of our emails on mobile now and do most of our Social Media on mobile too.  I recently also read a statistic that said for the first time over 50% of web surfing was done on mobile.  So we need to be good at marketing to mobile phones

Video

The second big change is the use of video is going to increase.  The use of video is already really important, but in the future, it is only going to increase.  We can be far more persuasive, focused and powerful on video.  In my opinion, websites are going to look more like TV stations.  You only need to look at some of the statistics around YouTube to know how popular watching video is.

Knowing about SEO is so time sensitive because it changes at least every few months.  Keeping up to date is therefore a constant battle.  Even people who attended my Internet Mastery events six months ago need to update their skills and knowledge.

During the past week I learned several new key skills for Google SEO.  Each one is very new – only released in the last three weeks – and is centred around your use of Google tools including Google+, Google local and the search words ‘How to’ and ‘Where can’.

One thing that I can tell you is that it is now more important than ever to use Google’s tools and services including:

  • Google analytics
  • Google+
  • Google local
  • Blogger.com
  • YouTube
  • Google maps

The bottom line is:

Google likes websites and companies that like and use Google.

If you run an average business, then you get average results.  Average results mean no profit and you are struggling to survive.

The biggest lie in Marketing…

The biggest lie in Marketing is – “Our website is just a brochure website”

Well, sometimes it is a lie, whilst others it is simply an excuse.

Let’s be honest here:

1. Your website cost you money and perhaps lots of it

2. You could be winning business from it, but if you are like 95% of businesses, then you don’t

3. You do very little to market your website and you spend even less money to drive traffic to your website

4. Your website has no clear MWA (most wanted action).  In other words, there is nothing to sign up for and no call to action.

If you have one of those nice websites with an attractive rotating picture across the top of the home page, then I guarantee that you are losing money.  Now don’t make the mistake of thinking – I will get a new website designed.  If it is not built properly and with Marketing in mind, then you will just have another website that does not work and I don’t want that for you.  Let’s face it, most websites are a complete waste of money!
