Hampshire Business Advice – Improving the Numbers

Video No.2 – Improving the numbers

In the video below I talk about the power of improving the numbers.  This question is what numbers are you going to focus on improving:

Number like:

  1. The number enquiries that you get
  2. The number of people who visit your website per month?
  3. The number of people who buy as a result of visiting your website
  4. Your email open rate
  5. The number of networking events you attend etc.

Watch this video, then decide what are you going to do.  Want my help?  Call me on 01256 242 272.

What is the one change you can make to get more sales fast?

Steve Mills - Marketing AdviceWhat is the one change you can make to get more sales fast?

Answer: Change the words that you use.

Trying to write the copy that will go on our websites, emails, letters, brochures, blogs and others sales copy it difficult because we don’t know exactly what will work to convince people to give us their money in exchange for our products and services.

By changing the words in a headline, sub headline or general copy, I have literally increased email open rates, sales conversions, upsells, and much more – instantly. My biggest success was turning an advert that was not working into one that created 2 sales each of over £2,000,000 by changing the headline and it took me less than ten minutes to do it. The right words can really make a big difference.

I have increased my and my client’s conversions by 25%, 40%, even doubled the response rate – by changing the copy I used in my marketing. And I’ve done this over and over again.

So, if you’re getting ready to launch your new product, or service, or a new website, or even if you are starting a new business, and you’re stuck trying to work out what to say to get people to buy from you, then call us now on 01256 242 272.

Development of Business Skills

Development of Business Skills…

I had a great day yesterday in the offices of Dan Bradbury.

It was great to spend the day away from the office working on the business and getting the opinion of someone outside of the business.  I think everyone should do this from time to time.

During the day we discussed the development of ‘business skills’.  The truth is that 99% of business owners have weaknesses in their business skills (including myself) and we need to identify and improve these skills.

These skills could include:

  • Leadership
  • Financial clarity
  • Marketing (or as we call it – lead generation)
  • Sales  (or as we call it – lead conversion)
  • Strategic planning
  • People management
  • Recruitment
  • HR
  • Health and safety

Or any number of other skills that you need to own and to manage a successful business.

The key is that as business owners we need to develop those skills, and if we don’t the lack of skill in any one of those areas can ‘bite us in the bum’ just at the wrong time and end our business.

The future of marketing

Marketing TrainingWhat is the future for marketing?  Where is it going to change?

Whilst I do not profess to be able to predict the future, there are a couple of things that I am fairly sure will happen in the world of marketing.

The main reason for me knowing about these changes is that they are already happening.

Here they are:

Mobile

There is going to be an increase in the importance of the use of marketing to mobile phones.  Let’s face it, we pick up most of our emails on mobile now and do most of our Social Media on mobile too.  I recently also read a statistic that said for the first time over 50% of web surfing was done on mobile.  So we need to be good at marketing to mobile phones

Video

The second big change is the use of video is going to increase.  The use of video is already really important, but in the future, it is only going to increase.  We can be far more persuasive, focused and powerful on video.  In my opinion, websites are going to look more like TV stations.  You only need to look at some of the statistics around YouTube to know how popular watching video is.

What does your business look like in terms of technology and marketing technology?

Steve Mills - Part time Marketing director

Like it, or loath it, marketing technology is here to stay

And the extent to which you embrace, use and benefit from it may well be a direct reflection of how successful you and your business are now and in the future.

The fact is that technology is going to become more important in the future and will enable us as businesses and people to be:

  • Faster
  • More informed
  • Better at doing things
  • More informed
  • Etc

It is no longer acceptable to say “I don’t like technology”, or “I don’t understand it”.  You MUST embrace it and become outstandingly good at using it.

Questions for you to consider

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being outstanding, how good are you and your business at using the following marketing technology:

  1. CRM systems
  2. Project management software
  3. Diary management
  4. email marketing software
  5. Financial management software
  6. Website management software like WordPress

Because if you are not really great, then this is no doubt costing you money and in my opinion, it is something that is missing in 90% of the people in businesses that I speak to.

You cannot be serious

Unless you watch this video by Jim Rohn.

The three steps to success

Standing out in your marketingThe three steps to success

There are many versions of ‘the secret to success’ and I am not saying that this is the key to success, but for me at least it makes common sense for me to know…

  1. Do I know my ONE most important thing for the year/month/ quarter?
  2. Do I know my number ONE biggest action today?
  3. Have I planned my ONE biggest thing for first thing in the morning?

EVERYONE is busy, the real question is “busy doing what?”

Everyone has the same number of hours in the day. So it’s not a question of having the time, it’s a question of managing your priorities and putting the most important things first.

Most people have a thousand excuses as to why the can’t follow the 3 steps above.

Most people don’t have what they want and will never achieve the success they desire.

I don’t think that’s a coincidence, do you?

So my question for you is quite simple. What’s your one thing today?

Have a productive day!

P.S:

An easy to read book that inspired this article and one which is well worth reading is ‘The One Thing’ by Gary Keller.
